Handicare offers solutions and support to increase the independence of physically challenged or elderly people, and to enable them to live an active life on their terms as well as to facilitate work for their care providers and family. We offer curved and straight stairlifts, transfer, lifting and repositioning aids and vehicle accessibility products and solutions.

With a goal of making everyday life easier we manufacture an array of safe patient handling products as well as straight and curved stairlifts, serving the many needs of both caregivers and individuals limited in mobility.
Handicare facilitates user’s ability to be mobile or age in place gracefully through our expansive line of transfer & lifting aids, accessible bathroom equipment, ceiling lifts and stairlifts. All products have been designed around the same philosophy: each product needs to be a tailor-made solution that meets the needs of its individual user. That is why at Handicare, we do not believe in “one size fits all”. Instead, our products include a range of options, styles and features to ensure that each user is provided a customized solution.
Internationally, our headquarters are based out of Kista, Sweden, with global manufacturing and sales offices located in the UK, Netherlands, Norway, Italy, France, Canada, Germany and Denmark.

Handicare: ISO 14001 and 9001 certified
We are proud of the quality of our product. Our commitment to the quality of our stairlifts has been recognised by Bureau Veritas and has earned us two ISO certificates. These demonstrate that we meet stringent ISO criteria at an international level.
Furthermore our Handicare Freecurve, Classic and Elegance chair comply with the ASME 18.1. This is an American Standard which proves that the forementioned stairlifts and chairs meet the Safety Standard for Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts. Handicare is a member of EPSA.
Types of StairLifts
Stairlifts fall into two basic categories: straight and curved. The type you need will depend upon the design of your staircase.
Safety of Stairchair / Stairlift
The quality of our stairlifts is apparent in product safety, to name but one area. We are therefore also continuously working on the safety of our stairlifts, something which is evidenced in the variety of safety measures installed on the product.
Our stairlifts (and / or production facility) meet stringent safety standards. To be able to do this, our stairlifts are tested and approved by independent global test services, for example the Dutch Liftinstituut, the British Standards Institution and the German Technischer Überwachungs Verein (TÜV). This means that you can be certain that your stairlift meets the most stringent quality and safety criteria.
Safety is our #1 priority. All Handicare stairlifts carry applicable worldwide safety certifications and include seatbelts for maximum safety while in transit.
Besides having the stairlift user being in control of its movement, our stairlifts have what are called “hold to run” toggle controls, which will make the stairlift stop immediately if the button is released. Furthermore, all Handicare stairlifts are equipped with 7 safety sensors that will automatically – and immediately – stop the lift if anything is detected in its path.
And lastly, all Handicare stairlifts include an “Emergency stop” button to immediately stop the stairlift if necessary.
